LA-based newcomer Jensen McRae has dropped her emotionally charged new track, ‘The Plague’. Intentionally lo-fi, the track feels raw and isolated throughout, with just an acoustic guitar supporting McRae’s unprocessed voice. ‘The Plague’ continues her quest to explore all facets of identity while using the chorus to delve into existentialism: “I’m trying to believe in something, but God is gone and I don’t think she’s coming”. While the likes of Stevie Wonder and Carole King are typically those she cites as influences, the stripped-back nature and honesty of this release has more in common with the likes of Iron And Wine and Bon Iver.
